CITIZENSHIP

In order to become a citizen of Canada the new rules as of October 11/2017 state:

• A physical presence in Canada for 3 out of 5 years

• Any days spent in Canada before becoming a PR, within
5 years of applying for citizenship, count as half days
(up to 365  days) towards physical presence requirement.

• Age range for language and knowledge requirements
are 18-54 years old. You must take the  Citizenship test.

• The time required for applicants to file income taxes
before applying for citizenship is 3 out of 5 years.

To become a Citizen, you must understand the rights, responsibilities, and privileges of citizenship. You must also show an adequate knowledge of Canada in English or French such as history, values, institutions and symbols.
